So here I go with the review of my May Glossybox! After seeing a few other unboxing pictures on Instagram I became aware that my product line up differs slightly to most other peoples’ and if I’m honest this is the main reason that I’m not quite as enamoured with this month’s box as usual, but I still like a couple of the items inside. Here is a closer look.
Zerreau Beauty Towel Off Shampoo Foam:
Since Festival season will soon be upon us this product seemed like it would be an absolute godsend. When you spend 2 or 3 nights in a tent its inevitable that your hair is going to suffer and with limited access to water this towel off shampoo foam could be the perfect solution…except that its not actually that good. True, I may have been expecting miracles but this product certainly didn’t impress me as much as I hoped it would. Firstly, by the time you have applied enough of the foam to give it a chance of working your hair is left pretty damp. This certainly poses a problem if you are after a quick fix solution to effortlessly perk up your hair then carry straight on with your day! After aggressively rubbing at my hair with a towel I had to resort to a blast with the hairdryer. Since this would be impossible if you were holed up in a tent in the middle of a field it pretty much renders the foam useless as a ‘festival essential’. By the time I was done it did improve the appearance of my hair a little, alleviating some of the grease and adding a bit more volume but it certainly isn’t the hassle free wonder product that I was expecting.
Être Belle Aloe Vera Moisturizing Gel:
I am a big fan of the soothing and cooling qualities of Aloe Vera products so I was pretty pleased to see this. It can be used all over but I tried it out on my face. I was relieved to discover that it didn’t have the unpleasant smell of pure Aloe Vera gel but unfortunately there was a sickly, lightly perfumed scent in it’s place. I had been suffering with dry, itchy patches on my face and smoothing this on did help calm them and leave my skin feeling soft, but the gel also left it feeling slightly sticky. All in all the gel was quite effective and I definitely won’t let the rest of the tube go to waste, but I won’t be buying any more of it either.
Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar Refreshing and Refining Moisturizer:
I love to receive samples from luxury brands and I also love trying out new moisturisers so I was happy enough to receive this little sample sized tube. My main problem is the fact that its the second moisturiser sample in the same box. A bit of variety would’ve been nice! I am also rather bitter because the product that many other subscribers got in place of this one was a rather nice looking Collection Lipstick which most people have been raving about and I’m a sucker for a make up item!
Still, there is no changing the box you receive so I had to give the moisturiser a try and make the best of the situation. It has quite a thick consistency but it absorbs into the skin quite easily and does leave the skin feeling soft and smooth. I will need to use the whole of the little 7ml tube to determine whether it is worth the £34 price tag of the full sized version though!
Sass Intimate Perfect Skin Concentrate:
‘Intimate’ grooming is a pretty personal subject so I won’t go into too much detail on this one but I will say that ingrown hairs and shave bumps can be a major pain in the bum and its great to have a product like this to help soothe the area. Its also convenient that this was supplied in a Beauty Box which avoids any of the potential embarrassment that it may cause some people to have to purchase something like this from a shop! I will definitely be putting this sample to use and it is one of the better items from this month’s box for sure.
Me Me Me Enchanted Eyes Duel Ended Eye Wand in ‘Midnight Storm’:
Me Me Me describes itself as ‘The Affordable Boutique Brand’ and this is a lovely little product at the impressive price of £6.95. There are two attractive shades of blue on either end of the crayon and they glide on easily. The colour is well pigmented and the product lasts well, particularly of you use an eyeshadow primer on your lids beforehand. I love eye pencils like this to provide a quick wash of colour when you don’t have time for intensive blending or want to go for a more playful look and I was really pleased with this one. Definitely the standout product for me this month!
